Photo Flashback of the week: Isla Palomino
August 11, 2004: Tiny Island of Palomino
Puerto Rico is where my parents were born and I’ve been visiting since I was a tiny baby, I believe I made my first visit when I was months old to see my grandfather. This is a snapshot of the last time I was there.
Isla Palomino is a quick ride away from the mainland- we took off from the marina in Fajardo on my uncle’s lancha and spent the whole day anchored off this tiny island. My brothers and cousins and I took turns throwing ourselves off the boat, drinking beers, and having delicious pizza delivered by my cousin, who at that time had a business on his own boat of pizza delivery.
It was genius- he had a large sign with the phone number written on the top of the boat, and nearby boats would call and place their order, and a friend of his would deliver the pizzas to the happy customers via jet ski. A great idea. His wife made the pizza and it was so good!
If you had your boat anchored off this island, would you not call for pizza delivery if it was available?
