Holidays on a Shoestring
If your holiday budget looks as sad as a wet weekend, and you’re starting to wonder if you’ll have to make do with Skegness yet again, don’t despair. With so many low-cost flight options, affordable hotels and package holiday deals available, you’ll almost always find something to suit your taste and your budget.
Thanks to the high level of competition between tour operators and the sheer number of flights and accommodation options available, the price of holidays is regularly slashed and travel agencies will often include various incentives to try and secure your custom. Whether that’s an extra 10% discount here, a cheap upgrade there or even free kids’ places on family holidays, it’s always worth keeping your eyes peeled for the latest deals.
Package holidays are usually the best place to start. Take Thomas Cook vacations for instance. Tour operators such as this regularly drop the price of their holidays the closer you get to the departure date, so if you can bear to wait up to a week or two before you jet off, this is often the point when you’ll save the most money. You will be faced with limited availability so it’s usually worth keeping an open mind; but with the bigger tour operators you’ll normally have a wide range of choice across destinations, accommodation and resort anyway.
Alternatively, try booking well in advance to take advantage of early bird discounts. You’ll have the chance to secure additional discounts and great little incentives, and in most cases you’ll also be able to pay off the cost of your holiday in stages too, which makes things that little bit easier. Plus, you’ll get plenty of availability and the pick of the crop – meaning you won’t have to make so many compromises.
Regardless of budget, there are always low-cost options available to give you that perfect holiday on a shoestring!
