There are no shortages of beautiful, deserted beaches in South East Asia, and we’ve managed to find a few that gave us exactly what we were looking for: empty spaces, sparkly clear waters, a spot for a good nap and some good diving/ swimming holes. This list could go on and on but for now, here is our list of the top 5 SE Asia beaches that we loved, in no particular order:
Mabul is a gem of a place located off the coast of Malaysia Borneo. I’ve read countless articles about how these beaches have some of the clearest water in the world, and while we agree that the locals have little solutions in the way of garbage removal, we gave this beach top marks because of the diversity of dive sites.
This photo was taken on a slightly overcast day but don’t let that fool you- this beach boasts some of the clearest water in the world, and as a protected area it has a daily number of visitors that can visit and either scuba or snorkel here, also you can take a boat and just have a picnic and swim around for the day. Sipadan is a dream destination, use Travelbag to start planning your next vacation to check out some of these gorgeous beaches!
Koh Yao Yai
We wrote a whole little story about our time on Koh Yao Yai, but the best part is that few people visit so we were able to find a nice spot and had a whole beach to ourselves. Add a bag with treats from the market stalls on the sides of the road along the way and you’ve got an afternoon picnic.
The picture speaks for itself right.
Black Sand Beach, Padang Bai, Bali
This might not be the best beach for swimming but this whole area with the black sand beaches was one of our favorite spots in Bali. The sun was blazing and we found a nice spot to have a nap and just admire the black sand and relax.
